Psalms 117:1-2 “O praise the LORD, all ye nations: praise him, all ye people.”
The aim of the Spirit Retreat is rather simple: to, as David so wisely instructed, have all people praise God together. As an initiative under the Coptic Orthodox Church, the Spirit Retreat aims at gathering Orthodox Youth from all jurisdictions under one roof in an effort to bring about community, fellowship, and united love for God.
The uniqueness of the retreat is found in the diversity, culturally and experientially, of its attendees and it’s speakers. With the entirety of the Orthodox Christian Body encouraged to attend, walls are broken, and boundaries torn down when youth come together in order to edify, encourage, and praise with one another.
With the central focus of the retreat aimed at camaraderie and the unity of the larger body of Christ, all the lectures, workshops, and activities have the unified goal of fellowship with the believers. The three days are tailored to making youth aware of the family in Christ that exist outside of their parish walls, and within their communities, schools, and social places.
All efforts start and end with Christ, and the retreat intends on bringing all the diversity of Christ’s faithful people in one place to praise Him. We are one in Spirit and this fact has eluded us for too long. The Sp1rit retreat is a significant a step toward actualizing the reality of Christ’s one church.
